Privacy Policy

Look, We Get It

Privacy stuff isn't exactly thrilling reading, but it matters. At Blight Venom Architecture, we're pretty straightforward about what we do with your info. This policy breaks down how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you interact with our studio - whether that's through this site, emails, or when you stop by our Vancouver office.

What We Actually Collect

We're not in the business of hoarding data. We only grab what's needed to work with you or respond to your inquiries:

  • Contact Details: Your name, email, phone number, and address when you reach out or start a project with us
  • Project Info: Property details, design preferences, budget ranges - the stuff we need to actually design something you'll love
  • Website Data: Basic analytics like how you found us, which pages you check out, browser type - pretty standard web stuff
  • Communications: Emails, calls, meeting notes - we keep records so nothing falls through the cracks

How We Use Your Information

We're architects, not advertisers. Here's what we do with your data:

  • Respond to your inquiries and provide quotes for our services
  • Manage ongoing projects and keep communication flowing
  • Send project updates, invoices, and relevant documentation
  • Improve our website and understand what potential clients are looking for
  • Occasionally share portfolio updates or news - but only if you've said it's cool
  • Comply with legal requirements and professional standards in the architecture field

Who Gets to See Your Data

We don't sell your information - that's just not our thing. But sometimes we need to share it with:

  • Project Partners: Engineers, contractors, consultants who're working on your project with us
  • Service Providers: Cloud storage, email services, accounting software - the tools that keep our studio running
  • Legal Folks: When required by law, court orders, or regulatory bodies
  • Professional Bodies: Architectural associations we're registered with in Canada

Everyone we work with is bound by confidentiality agreements and professional standards.

Keeping Your Data Safe

We take security seriously. Our systems use encryption, secure servers, and access controls. Only team members who need your info to do their job can access it. We regularly update our security measures and keep our software patched. That said, no system's completely bulletproof, but we're doing everything reasonable to protect your data.

Cookies & Website Tech

Our website uses cookies - those little data files that help the site work better. We use them for analytics (understanding how people use the site) and functionality (remembering your preferences). You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features might not work as smoothly. We use Google Analytics to track site performance, which means Google processes some data according to their own privacy policy.

Your Rights Over Your Data

Under Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA), you've got some solid rights:

  • Access: Ask what personal data we have about you
  • Correction: Request updates if something's wrong or outdated
  • Deletion: Ask us to delete your data (with some legal exceptions for project records)
  • Withdraw Consent: Opt out of marketing communications anytime
  • Complain: File a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you're not happy

Just shoot us an email at studio@blightvenom.info if you want to exercise any of these rights.

How Long We Keep Your Stuff

Project files and contracts? We're legally required to keep those for at least seven years after project completion - it's an architecture thing. General inquiries and marketing contacts get reviewed annually, and we'll delete what we don't need. Financial records follow Canadian tax law requirements. Once the retention period's up and there's no legal reason to keep it, we securely delete or anonymize your data.

Third-Party Links

Our site might link to other websites - suppliers, partners, inspiration sources. Once you click through, you're on their turf and their privacy policies apply. We can't control what they do, so check their policies if you're concerned.

Changes to This Policy

We might update this policy occasionally - usually when laws change or we adjust our practices. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised. Major changes? We'll let existing clients know directly. Otherwise, the updated version goes live here and it's on you to check in now and then.

Questions or Concerns?

Got questions about how we handle your data? Want to request access or deletion? Just reach out. We're humans, not robots, and we're here to help.
